GRIEF IS A VERB
Monthly Consultation Group for Therapists Who Work With Grief
Working with grief asks something of us. There are losses we can't fix, pain we can't take away, and moments when we may feel uncertain about what to say or do. Sitting with someone else's grief can stir our own experiences of loss, challenge our clinical instincts, and ask us to stay present when there are no easy answers.
This is an intentional space to think about this work with other clinicians. A place to explore the cases that stay with us, deepen our understanding of grief, and reflect on how our own experiences and responses shape the way we accompany clients through loss.
This monthly group brings together learning, discussion, and reflective practice. We'll explore frameworks for understanding grief, read and discuss books and articles, and make room for the less tangible parts of the work: countertransference, the emotional weight of witnessing, and the challenges of staying present without trying to fix, explain, or move grief along.
Through shared inquiry and discussion, we'll develop a deeper understanding of grief and tend to our own capacity to respond to what grief asks of us, both personally and professionally.
ABOUT KIMBERLEY
Therapist | Supervisor | Educator
Kimberley is a graduate of St. Edward's University and a grief and trauma therapist in south Austin. She was a therapist for 4 years at Austin's Center for Grief and Loss as well as a support group facilitator working with both adults and children who had suffered a death. While there, she and a colleague who worked at hospice discussed the difficulties and heaviness of grief work with adults. From this seed, she created Morbid Curiosity: A Game About Death.
Kimberley has attended Order of the Good Death national events, local Death Cafés, suicide prevention conferences and workshops, grief group facilitation training, and a variety of unique and sometimes quirky death-focused events. She offers workshops, lectures, and consultation about death, working with grief, and sitting with our mortality.
